Johnny Elbow doesn't look like a comedian. He looks more like a high school English teacher or guidance counselor*.

But maybe that's how he catches audiences off guard when he opens his mouth. It's the words he chooses. It's his tone of voice. It's his cadence and use of characters. Once he flips the switch, crowds know they're dealing with somebody that is seriously funny.

Johnny’s act centers around family life, with social commentary mixed in for flavor. His comedy is broadly relatable -- and yet still from a unique point of view. You're more likely to notice his use of 14-letter words than four-letter ones (some might say he does so advantageously).

It's this style of stand-up that stood out to national headliners/talent scouts Kathleen Madigan and Alonzo Bodden from NBC's Last Comic Standing, the show on which he made his network television debut.

Johnny has spent more than a decade entertaining audiences at clubs, corporate functions and private events. With a background in improvisation, he knows how to be in the moment and make every show feel fresh.

He enjoys the challenge of writing custom material for corporate shows, a skill honed from his years as an ad copywriter -- and he has the meaningless industry awards to prove it (what’s a national ADDY?). In addition, he doesn’t just use his voice for comedic effect on stage. He also uses it in commercials, corporate videos and even video games as a voice over actor with the Kim Dawson Agency.

Johnny lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife Sherry, a comedian herself. In addition to making people laugh together, they also made babies together -- their two young daughters, who are responsible for most of Johnny’s material and headaches.
